Due to the corona situation, the exhibition of Roel Sluiter, former mayor of Harlingen, which was planned around his resignation in May, had to be postponed. The exposition will now open on 12 November.
Roel Sluiter, also a former alderman of the municipality of Leeuwarden, is back in the city hall of Leeuwarden for a while, but now in a different guise. Roel Sluiter: “The present and the past intertwine in this exhibition. I've exhibited before, but now it's time to look back and at the same time take a straight look at new horizons. In addition to new work, this exhibition also includes paintings that are from an earlier date, giving the exhibition an overview character. We therefore see a direction and development from completely abstract to more recognizable forms, but also constants, such as colour and expression. Something had to be done. Feeling, colour and sometimes emotion. As a result, in addition to paintings with blobs and smudges, there are also interpretations of shapes and outright tinkering. As far as tinkering exists for me, for I am never accurate”.
