Are you on Texel? Then you shouldn’t miss a visit to Klif 12 theatre. Almost all the major names from Dutch cabaret have taken the stage at Klif 12 theatre restaurant in Den Hoorn, and many regularly return for a show or try-out. Klif 12 is also known for its unique children’s cabaret and events like Broadway, a three-day theatre festival that takes place in the living rooms and barns of Den Hoorn residents every two years during Whitsun weekend.
Texel is a real artist island. This is reflected in the many galleries on the island. It’s worth noting that the beautiful nature is often central in the art that you find here. A visit to a gallery is definitely worth a visit when on Texel.
Experience the island and the old Texel way of life in the cultural historic museum. This museum is located in a charming old farm in the village of Waal and it shows how farm life used to be. There is also a smithy where regular demonstrations are given.
The Texel Oudheidkamer is a small museum in the centre of Den Burg. The beautiful house dates from 1599 and is decorated with furniture and consumables from that time. Behind the museum is the smallest public herb garden in the Netherlands, including the rare herb Alexanders that still grows wild on Texel.
