until 30 September in Leeuwarden
An abandoned farm as a breeding ground of creativity Farm of the World brings art and nature closer together. Experience the impressive world of artist Claudy Jongstra at the Kreake in Hûns.
They come from all over the world: artists, designers, farmers, artisans and architects working in De Kreake under the inspirational eye of artist Claudy Jongstra and her partner Claudia Busson. They create beautiful objects with local raw materials and they bring together art, food, farming and design.
The home of Farm of the World is the abandoned farm De Kreake in the small village of Húns, but the project extends to the studio of artist Claudy Jongstra. She uses her work to promote biodiversity and the conservation of natural and cultural heritage.
Farm of the World wants to show the diversity, creativity and wealth that even a small plot of land can offer: from organic-dynamic bouquets to ceramics and from food to a training place for disadvantaged young people.
Lectures, workshops and guided tours
Farm of the World’s 'harvest' will be shared with visitors at different times and ways in 2018. Activities will take place at De Kreake on various Thursdays: from a lecture with an organic-dynamic lunch to natural painting workshops and guided tours of the special farmland.
In addition, the Oude Suikerfabriek (Old Sugar Factory) in Groningen will be involved in the project as a laboratory and exhibition location. New works of art by Claudy Jongstra can be seen in this huge space during the large Waste-NO Waste Factory exhibition.
Garden of paint plants
Anyone who has always wanted to have a look in Claudy Jongstra’s studio will really enjoy themselves in the Blokhuispoort, where you can visit the Honeysuckle Blue(s) Garden. This garden of historic paint plants won the 2016 Silver-Gilt Medal at the prestigious British RHS Chelsea Flower Show. A nice sneak peek at Farm of the World.
