Tattoo artists and ceramists have a lot in common. Both occupational groups practice ancient crafts. From Europe to Asia, tattoos and ceramics are highly valued art forms. They have more in common than you might think. In both cases, it’s easy to make a mistake and difficult - if not impossible - to correct it. Tattoos and ceramics are both cherished for a lifetime. Tattoo & Ceramics brings these two crafts together. Leading tattoo artists work with a new surface - porcelain. They apply their expertise by decorating porcelain dinnerware.
The tattoo artists involved in creating the works of art are Andrew Abramchik, Fabiënne Demmer-Altena, Expanded Eye (Jade Tomlinson and Kevin James), Growink (Maaike de Jong), Joris Mous, Digz (Michaud Elie Jonathan), Elbrich Schoorstra and Jakub Vaniš. The results are on display in the Princessehof Ceramics Museum until 28 October.
