The Fryske Wâlden is an area with a rich history and a distinctive landscape. Artist Tjibbe Hooghiemstra (1957) has lived there as a true 'wâldpyk' for more than 30 years. Over the past four years, he’s worked on a series of new drawings, photographs, sculptures and paintings, with the region – that has since been recognised as National Landscape - as the subject. Together with the poet Nyk de Vries, he uses this personal project to not only respond to nature but also to the character of the Wâlden. The premiere will take place in Museum Belvédère, after which the exhibition will travel to Cologne, Belfast, Dublin and Tokyo.
