Take a look
Musician/poet Melvin van Eldik sings, plays and tells: a programme for and about Leeuwarden and the people of Leeuwarden in Cultuurpodium Dorpskerk Huizum.
Songs, poems and stories with a laugh and a tear. The idea for his Leeuwarden song lyrics (not to mention his Liwwadder poems) was born after winning 1st prize in a translation contest organised by the Leeuwarder Courant in collaboration with the Leeuwarden Literary Activities Foundation, in which John Lennon's song 'A working class hero' had to be translated.
His Liwwadder translation 'Un held uut de Meenthe' got the most points.
Melvin also won 1st prize of the Poetry Slam Zeist, stood in the final of NK Poetry Slam in Utrecht (2009) and received the Leeuwarder Pommeranten Pries 2018.
In Leeuwarden, three of his poems can be read and admired in public spaces.
Although the concerts in the 'Music+' series are free to attend, a voluntary contribution for the musicians is greatly appreciated.
