Organ concert by David de Jong in Cultuurpodium Dorpskerk Huizum, Leeuwarden, Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. Voluntary contribution.

After the restoration of the organ in the Dorpskerk Huizum at the end of 2015, there have been frequent organ concerts on a Friday afternoon from 5 to 6pm.
There will also be another organ concert on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023. Then David de Jong from Harlingen will be the organist who will let you hear the beautiful sounds of our beautifully restored organ.
David de Jong (1969) started organ lessons in 1979 and studied organ from 1982 - 2003 with Johan G. Koers, who is still his mentor. In 1988 he won the second prize at the National Organ Competition in Elburg.
David de Jong has been a pastor since 1998, but still gives concerts regularly.
His playing can be heard on fourteen CDs, recorded in the Bovenkerk in Kampen, the Martinikerk in Bolsward, the Martinikerk in Sneek and the Basilica in Raalte, among others.
In 2007 he was a finalist in the Hinsz Composition Competition. He composed works for choir, organ, harpsichord and carillon.
Choral melodies by his hand have appeared in various collections.
David de Jong is studying choral conducting at the Modulaire Dirigenten Opleiding (Modular Conductors' Training Course) of the Conductors' Workshop in Utrecht.

You are welcome for an hour of organ sounds! Come on time, so you can pick a nice spot.

There is limited parking space near the church. Visitors can park - within walking distance and free of charge - in the large parking lot opposite Intratuin (south side Tijnjedijk).
