If we want to develop the current agricultural system from a Mansholt 1.0 version (1970-2018) based on efficiency and productivity, towards a Mansholt 2.0 version (2019-2030), where the balance between ecology and economy has been restored. What will then be our main challenge?

What are the new insights when you compare them with 5 years ago? What are the main challenges in agricultural landscapes for the next 10 years? Are we going in a direction where planetary boundaries are really involved in the way we organize our agricultural system? In other words: our agricultural landscape will be productive in the coming 1000 years or will we lose more and more as a result of degradation.

What is our most important challenge from an international perspective? What can we learn from elsewhere? Which methods can be used? And what does that mean for the Netherlands (and Fryslân). Can we ultimately be just as successful with Mansholt 2.0 as with 1.0? Can this be our gateway to new international agricultural success?
