The WaterWereld exhibition can be seen in the Jopie Huisman Museum in 2020. The beautiful Frisian lake area, beautifully captured by Jopie and other artists, is central to this. Immerse yourself in the beauty of perhaps the most beautiful part of the Netherlands. Welcome to WaterWorld!
The Frisian water
Everyone has a feeling about it. With the water your perspective changes, you come in different atmospheres. Jopie knew that feeling like no other. He could roam for hours through the Hollow Mar, for him heaven on earth. A selection of his most beautiful water landscapes has been made especially for the exhibition.
The Frisian water has also inspired many other artists. In WaterWereld, Jopie's water landscapes are mirrored to those of his fellow artists Willem van Althuis, Gerrit Benner, Marije Bouman, Abe Gerlsma, Evert de Graaf, Reinder Homan, Tjibbe Hooghiemstra, Jan Kleefstra, Jan van der Kooi, Christiaan Kuitwaard, Jan Planting, Jentsje Popma, Rienold Postma, Jan Roos, Jelle Schotanus, Jan Snijder, Jonas Snijder, Sjoerd de Vries and Ids Wiersma.
Water landscapes in "watercolor": it is an intriguing combination. For that reason, the Jopie Huisman Museum has entered into a special collaboration with the International Watercolor Society Holland and the Northern Watercolorists. At the invitation of the museum, ten watercolorists went to Friesland last summer to capture the atmosphere of the water ‘in water’. Dorota Bousquet, Riny Bus, Hans Groeneveld, Gerard Hendriks, Carla de Korte, Johan Meeske, Jan Min, Marjan Nagtegaal, Hannie Rieuwerts, Jan Velthuis take the visitor in their water feeling.
The Jopie Huisman Museum organizes activities around the exhibition all year round: from watercolor workshops to excursions, from boat trips to theme nights and from nature walks to master classes. Check the website for the full program.
