Lunch lecture: A theatrical dive into Frisian slavery history

In 2023, it will be 150 years since the Netherlands abolished slavery in the former colonies. During this lunch lecture, Guus Pengel, Henk Leutscher and Jaleesa Schiphorst will shine their light on the Frisian slavery past.

They will talk about traces of the slavery past in Leeuwarden and the activities during the commemorative year, including the musical performance Un dia nobo - Wan nyun dey - In nije dei. The performance is a co-production by Pier21 with Untold, Volksoperahuis and De Harmonie and will premiere on 16 June next.
Lunch lecture
This lecture at Tresoar starts at 12.30pm and lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. Admission is free. Due to expected crowds, reservations are required! When registering, you can indicate whether you want to make use of the lunch from Surinamese cuisine prior to the lecture (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian + 1 consumption, starting at 12.00). The cost for this is 5 euros, payable at the start. When registering, please also indicate how many people you are coming with. The lunch lecture is organised by Tresoar, in cooperation with Pier21 and Foundation Committee 30 June-1 July Fryslân.
