It's a tradition that during the summer months, the Martinikerk in Franeker holds and exhibition organised through Anita van Os from the Gallery de Roos van Tudor (Tudor Rose).
After the success of the LF2018-linked exhibition featuring Rita Kok's textiles, this years exhibition is centred around the theme 'A free mind sees more birds'.
For thinkers in the Middle Ages, it was clear the birds sing the song of god's love. Hearing birdsong was an accessible window into heaven. Birds sumbolised lightness, and freedom- which resonate deeply in the human psyche, and angels were often depicted as being amongst the birds.
Artists at the exhibition include:
Ton Bouchier, Abe Gerlsma, Rita Kok; Robin Shillcock, Barbara Broekman, O.C. Hooymeijer; Henk Krist, Teigetje & Woelrat design; Jaap Deelder, Hans Jouta, Ans Markus; Pim Velthuizen, Nicolas Dings, Dolph Kessler; Johan Scherft, Saskia Wagenvoort, Anne Feddema, and many more.
