Unknown Grounds is a performative symposium: a platform for collective thinking where an interdisciplinary group performs special work.
Unknown Grounds explores the idea that the systems - such as democracy, education, work - are public spaces that we inhabit, and at the same time build ourselves. That does not make us passive users, but active makers of the public building.
This northern event brings (visual) artists, policy makers, scientists - and other thinkers together and creates a two-day stage where they use performative and other innovative tools to think. To critically examine and re-imagine the existing buildings of our society. Both the ruins and the systems that we consider immutable and massive.
Immersed in a theatrical atmosphere, the participants and guests work during Unknown Grounds in a space on the playful border of fiction and reality in which they think together and actively and in which guests and participants constantly change roles in experimental workshops. These are the confirmed guests for Unknown Grounds: The Public Bulding: Nishant Shah, Hamja Ashan, Nina Glocker, Ribal Khatib, Lila Athanasiadou and Mohamedou Slahi.
