From outside to inside
Living as homeless requires creativity and a talent for survival. Art by homeless and formerly homeless artists tells a story. It is the work born from the experiences of individuals living outside mainstream society, those who look from the outside in.
Take a look
You surely encounter them. The homeless person sitting somewhere in your field of view. One asks for a euro, another asks for nothing. The group of visible yet invisible people. Have you ever thought: I would like to know their story? Why does he live like this? Does she have no children?
Living as homeless requires creativity. And talent to survive. Art by homeless and formerly homeless artists tells a story. It is work born from the experiences of people living outside society. Those who look from the outside in. With this art exhibition, we, from museum Obe, in the center of Leeuwarden, want to create an exhibition route where visitors wander along the exhibitions. The artworks are created and presented by artists who are or have been homeless. The exhibition includes photo portraits, a documentary, various artworks from 7 (former) homeless artists, and an audio tour. A compilation of the documentary can be viewed on YouTube.
A unique glimpse into the real life of people you never talk to but still see. The exhibition route also offers the opportunity to book activities.
