Duo exhibition Hendrik Elings and David van Kampen   "Het wad, leven tussen land en horizon" (The mudflats - life between land and the horizon)

Hendrik Elings was born and raised on the edge of St. Annaparochie, the place where Rembrandt once said 'yes' to Saskia van Uilenburgh. There...always those skies...always that sea dyke...and always the curiosity about what can be seen behind that dyke  Since 2010, he has lived there again, somewhere in the middle of this area,  in 1505 reclaimed land, the Bildt, and this curiosity has found a place in his paintings. Dark evening skies in moonlight, the Oudebildtdijk that crawls like a caterpillar through the flat land, or the rifts behind the seawall. New in this exhibition are the oil paintings on cardboard

David van Kampen lives and works on the outskirts of Friesland: Zwarte Haan. Birds, the salt marshes and then water, all the way to the ever-present horizon. The air and space of the Wad (mudflats) is his source of inspiration for his artworks. Several are painted and made on 4 cm thick inner door panels.
The love for the wide Frisian Wadden (mudflays) landscape brings both artists together.
