Bring a book, a blanket and something to drink and turn off your phone for a well-deserved undisturbed time to read  in the beautiful Prinsentuin in Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature on Saturday, 27 May from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm!

Page Against the Machine is an international event that brings readers together to enjoy reading together. The initiative comes from Norwich UNESCO City of Literature. Also participating are Iowa City (US), Slemani (Iraq), Dunedin (New Zealand), Exeter (UK), Melbourne (Australia) and Tartu (Estonia).

Not sure what you would like to read? De Culturele Apotheek (The Cultural Pharmacy) will be there again for reading advice. Between 1:00 and 14:00 pm and 3:30 and 4:30 pm, you can come to them for a book 'on prescription'. You can buy the prescribed book directly from Van der Velde bookshop, children's bookstore De Toverlantaarn, the Afûk bookshop or borrow it from Tresoar or dbieb!

Can't be there in the Prinsentuin in Leeuwarden? Then choose your favourite reading spot - at home or anywhere else - at the same time or on the same day, and join us online! Take a picture of your book and reading spot and share it with us on social media with #PageAgainsttheMachine, #CityofLiterature and #Leeuwardenliterature - and then quickly put your phone away again!
