Etuwe Bright Junior is destined to become a star. He knows it, and we – his audience – know it. But something is standing in the way: Junior is an economic migrant. He has difficulty with the Dutch language and he has no education. Junior originally came to Europe for his football career. Now, without any qualifications, he works in a factory.

In the monologue, Look On The Bright Side Junior investigates his own dream: stardom. He stands before the public that, in a sense, will determine his future. What are the societal mechanisms that determine who “makes it”? And under what circumstances?

Look On The Bright Side is in Dutch and the fourth performance from Star Boy Collective, a group of West African football migrants and performers who create performances under the watchful eye of director Ahilan Ratnamohan.
