Wandelroute Gaasterland: Elfbergen en Lycklamabos

Mooie wandelroute door bos Elfbergen, het grootste bos van Gaasterland, en het Lycklamabos. Wandelen in Gaasterland in Nationaal Landschap Zuidwest Fryslân is bijzonder. Daar waar Friesland weids en ruim en vlak is, loop je in dit deel, het stuwwallenlandschap, over glooiingen, door mystieke bossen. Vanuit Oudemirdum wandel je direct de Gaasterlandse bossen in. 

De Gaasterlandse adel zorgde voor bosaanplant (17e eeuw). Bos Elfbergen is het grootste bos (175 hectare) van deze regio. Het Lycklamabos is van oorsprong een eikenhakhoutplantage. Uit het eikenschors won men looizuur. Kenmerkend voor dit bos zijn de gegraven greppels met de tussenliggende hogere stroken (rabatten).
