The bell tower in the village of Legemeer stands in a graveyard surrounded by a canal. The bell tower we see today is a replica of the original bell tower built in 1720, which was destroyed by an autumn storm in 1972.

The bell tower we see today is a replica of the original bell tower built in 1720, which was destroyed by an autumn storm in 1972. The inscription on the bell reads: “Cast by Jacobus van Bergen in Midwolda in 1722, my predecessor cast by Jan Crans in Enkhuizen was stolen by the German occupier in 1943 / I was gifted to Legemeer through the generosity of Lady A.A. van Eijsinga in 1948.”
