This church stands closest to the sea of the entire Frisian coastal area, right behind the sea dike. A beautiful sight.
The building was constructed around 1200 from tuff stone, and the entire western section with its saddle-roofed tower still remains. In 1912, the nave with pseudo-transept, the attached vestry and the choir were newly built.
The renewed section features round-arched friezes beneath the roofline and large round-arched windows. These create a light interior in which the furniture in the vernieuwingsstijl comes into its own.
