Sitpleats on the sea dike near Frousleane is a place to pause, with a view and a story to tell.
The sea dike in Northwest Fryslân is more than a boundary between the land and the Wadden Sea. It is a place filled with stories and memories: from fishermen’s cottages with distinctive hipped roofs and grazing sheep to the clean, green line we see today.
The Sitpleats brings this history back to life. These sturdy, five-metre-long benches stand on top of the dike, offering views across the sea and the land. Their shape refers to the former dike cottages and always provides a sheltered spot out of the wind.
Each Sitpleats has a built-in information panel telling the story of that particular location. In this way, a moment of rest becomes a journey of discovery into the history of the dike.
Take a seat, enjoy the view and experience the history of this special place.
