This museum is a must for all ice skating fans. You will find the world’s largest collection of ice skates here, and a complete history of the Elfstedentocht in a specially designed Elfsteden-room. Each winner has his own showcase with medals, trophies and Elfsteden attributes.
We also have original workshops, such as a forge, wood workshop, paint shop, tannery, pottery, an extensive collection of sleighs and historical material such as old tiles and prints.
Traditional Hindelooper Art
Hindelooper Painting is a unique, traditional craft. Gauke and Pieter Bootsma paint furniture and various items according to this specific style. We also have an open studio where the traditional painting is demonstrated and a film is shown.

Pancake restaurant De Friese Doorloper
Pancake restaurant ‘De Friese Doorloper’ can be found in the characteristic building at Kleine Weide 3 and off ers over 50 kinds of pancakes. In addition to our pancake menu, we offer sandwiches, waffles and omelettes. Our restaurant is also available for celebrations.
