In her Textile Studio in Hindeloopen, Durkje de Boer makes unique textile products from the beautiful, colorful Hindelooper 'Sitsen en Bonten'.
‘Sitsen’ are hand-painted or hand-printed, glossy cotton fabrics with floral motifs; ‘Bonten’ are the cotton fabrics woven with checks. These fabrics were used in the traditional costumes of Hindeloopen in the past.
Her own label "Fleurig Folklore" consists of lifestyle home accessories such as cushions, poufs, lampshades, flag lines, picnic rugs, kitchen textiles, etc.
And fashion accessories such as: hair bands, keycords, bags, etc.
The products are sold from the studio and can also be ordered in size and color.
Hindelooper Sitsen, Quilt and Folklore fabrics are for sale off the roll and also small patches for quilting and patchwork.
In addition, a colorful collection of textile products by artisans from Central Asia and India is for sale.
Durkje likes to travel to distant destinations and even then she follows her passion for textiles. During her travels she visits small workshops and meets creative craftswomen. She buys the textile work directly from the maker. Fair trade for a fair price, for a beautiful life for the craftswomen and their families.
