Bakkeveen is located in the far east of Friesland, on the border of Friesland and Groningen and on the border of Friesland and Drenthe. The nearest larger town is Drachten, this village can be reached by car in about 25 minutes. Bakkeveen has a supermarket, various shops and a number of restaurants and cafes. From Nieuw Allardsoog you can easily walk into the Bakkeveense Duinen.
