A neoclassical country house on Lindelaan is located in Oranjewoud. The country house, surrounded by a wooded area and romantic garden, was built in 1829 by Hans Willem de Blocq van Scheltinga. For the history of Oranjewoud, we need to go back to 1676. In that year, Princess Albertine Agnes of Nassau, the grandmother of Johan Willem Friso, acquired an estate. Albertina had founded a country retreat and had beautiful gardens laid out. After Albertine's death, Johan Willem Friso inherited the house. The prince commissioned architect Daniel Marot to design Oranjewoud. After her husband passed away, Maria Louise continues her project to design the house. Remarkable about the mansion was that only the side wings were realized. This was intended for guests and staff. The main building has never been modified. Therefore, the former stadtholder family has stayed in the guest rooms.
A fun fact: the original name of the mansion was' t world. Maria Louise always likes the idea of calling the park: Oranjewoud, this is due to the green grasslands and combination with a landscaped forest of oaks and pines. Landgoed Oranjewoud is a fantastic place, with a great view, and is used for application procedures, seminars, and other business meetings.
