Expedition ship Willem Barentsz – “Witte Swaen”
The expedition ship Willem Barentsz, now known as the “Witte Swaen”, was reconstructed in Harlingen using shipbuilding techniques from the late 16th century. The reconstruction was carried out as scientifically accurately as possible by the foundation of the same name. Harlingen was chosen as the location because of its practical setting, surroundings and tourist appeal. In spring, the expedition ship “Witte Swaen” is moored in the Nieuwe Willemshaven.
