Schiermonnikoog is one of the wildest natural reserves of the Netherlands. The island is formed by strong currents, powerful winds and dusting sand. Nature is always on the move. National Park Virtually nowhere else are there so many different landscapes on such a small area: forests and dunes full of fragrant flowers, the endless beach, a vast salt marsh with unspoilt views, and mud flats, Westerplas and polder full of birds.
