The photogenic village of Moddergat in the northernmost tip of Friesland almost falls off the map, as it were. The house is located right on the sea wall of the most beautiful nature reserve in the Netherlands, the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.
Huize Moddergat is an idyllic and authentic fishing house from a bygone past but with contemporary comfort.

Accessible mudflat walks are organized from Moddergat. You can admire salt marshes, mussel banks and channel systems during these tours. But even without a guide you can walk about two kilometers into the sea without getting dirty feet. Arriving at the furthest point of the breakwater, you experience the feeling of being alone in the world; a magical experience in all seasons.
