Kollum is a "vlecke"—a village with a small-town character - located in the northeast of Friesland. The village is connected to the Lauwersmeer lake and is easily accessible by boat.
The village owes its former prosperity to the sea, which is still reflected today in the no fewer than 35 monumental facades lining its streets. You might have heard of Kollumer cheese or the historic Kollumer Oproer (Kollum Riot); this place truly has a rich history!
