Goudpoel is small-scale and car-free, with 11 waterfront lodges among trees, shrubs and natural planting on the Frisian water. This preserves peace and space for nature and guests.

Guests can quietly explore the Frisian Lakes in two electric Goudpoel boats.

Renewable and sustainable energy
The lodges are fully electric and use no gas. Cooking is electric; air conditioning provides heating and cooling, while heat-recovery ventilation recovers heat from outgoing indoor air.

Use of materials
The lodges are HAAKS Nano Houses: largely biobased and built without steel, concrete or fossil insulation materials. Their timber, circular construction is demountable, allowing materials to be reused at the end of their lifespan.

Using financial resources to create social and environmental value
Goudpoel works with local partners: bicycles and e-bikes can be hired through a partner in Oudega, and the local SPAR delivers groceries to the lodge. According to Goudpoel, De Koffiejongens coffee capsules are 100% biodegradable.

A comfortable, healthy indoor climate is supported by heat-recovery ventilation, air conditioning for heating and cooling, and a compact lodge layout. Outdoor life—swimming, paddleboarding, boating, walking and cycling—is central.

Guests can discover the Frisian landscape on foot, by bicycle or in an electric boat. The name Goudpoel refers to the former Goudtsjepoel, connecting the place to local history.
