The guide will show you the traces of Art Nouveau in Leeuwarden. He will also highlight the traces that have since disappeared, using old photographs and architectural drawings.
As well as buildings in the pure Art Nouveau style, there are many properties built around 1900 which, whilst perhaps not strictly Art Nouveau in style, do display many characteristics of this movement, for example in their forms and the use of colour and materials. Our guide will be delighted to take you on a tour of these traces, teaching you to recognise the characteristics of that era, pointing out details you may never have noticed before, and sharing fascinating stories about the buildings, their architects and the clients who commissioned them. By the end of this walk, you’ll see the city through a whole new lens!
