The country's largest music spectacle, Muziekfeest op het Plein (Music Festival on the Square), is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Take a look
On Tuesday 20 May, the tent will be in front of the Fries Museum on Wilhelminaplein, with a selection of Dutch artists. This is the second time that Leeuwarden is the host city for Muziekfeest op het Plein (Music Festival on the Square), because the tent also visited the Frisian city in 2007. From 7:30 pm, around 30 artists will perform, such as Marco Schuitmaker, Frans Duijts and Mart Hoogkamer*. The complete line-up will be announced at a later date.
AVROTROS, organiser of Muziekfeest op het Plein (Music Festival on the Square), is pleased with Leeuwarden as the host city. “We are looking forward to Leeuwarden, a beautiful old and hospitable city where Dutch music is very much alive,” says Mister Music Festival Jan Smit.
The programme of the free event in Leeuwarden starts at 7:30 pm. The local co-organisers of the event expect a huge turnout on Wilhelminaplein and therefore request visitors from the city and the region to come by bike or public transport. For the safety of the visitors, the square will be closed if it is too busy.
