Open Stage

The Open Stage at Bouwurk offers a unique opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents in an accessible and welcoming setting. Every Friday evening, regional artists are invited to perform on the stage in the Oasis, presenting work across a range of disciplines — from music and theatre to dance, comedy, and poetry. The event not only provides a platform for artists to share their work, but also gives audiences the chance to discover new talent and enjoy a wide variety of live performance art.

This Friday’s line-up includes:

8:00 pm | Guusje Hempenius – poetry & music
Often confusing, but rarely dull — that’s Guusje Hempenius. With sharp observations and a touch of cynicism, she sketches everyday life in her poems, drawing attention to what usually passes us by unnoticed. In the confusion she creates, recognition emerges. Come and get carried away by her poetic world.

8:15 pm | Ronald Wijnia – poetry
Performing under the name Taaltriggert, Ronald Wijnia writes and recites short poems and musings about life, love, and everything in between. With a touch of humour, comfort, and a strong feel for language, his poetry becomes a series of mini-stories. His latest collection Happiness Sometimes Smiles at You was published by Palmslag in 2024. At Bouwurk, he’ll present a series of poems framed within short narrative moments.

8:30 pm | Open Stage Break
In the Whitebox, Compagnie Krak presents a work-in-progress showing of the poetic circus performance Kintsugi, from 8:30 to 9:15 pm.

9:15 pm | Bram – rapper
Raw, honest, and deeply felt: Bram raps about mental health, feeling different, and the search for recognition. His track Tell Me What It Is hits home for young people who sometimes feel unheard.
A personal, sincere performance that invites empathy and understanding.

9:25 pm | The Monets – band
Indie vibes and garage rock from Sneek! The Monets (playing an acoustic set this time) bring both energetic and sultry songs to Bouwurk. Sander, Tristan, Detmer, and Mike have only been playing together for a year, but they already create a vibe like seasoned pros. Think: catchy, danceable, and full of joy.

9:45 pm | Levikta – metal (acoustic set)
Levikta is a young metal band from Friesland with a powerful message. Think heavy guitar riffs, dual female vocals, and lyrics that hit hard — touching on topics like climate change, depression, and war. For the Open Stage, Levikta will show a different side of themselves with a special acoustic performance.
