Strandbibliotheek Makkum opens its doors for the 20th time on 11 July. To celebrate, we start with a special opening activity: creating one large sand artwork together on the beach in Makkum.
Would you like to join?
Bring a spade, rake, broom, umbrella or something else you can use to make patterns in the sand. Together, we will create one large artwork that will only really become visible from the air. When it is finished, a drone will take photos and a video of the final result. Afterwards, Strandbibliotheek Makkum will be officially opened.
For whom?
Everyone is welcome. Whether you are an experienced sand builder or simply feel like joining a fun activity on the beach, your contribution completes the artwork. Participation is free and registration in advance is not required.
About Strandbibliotheek Makkum
This activity is part of Strandbibliotheek Makkum. It is the only beach library in the Netherlands. For 20 years, visitors have been able to borrow books and magazines here free of charge for a relaxed day by the IJsselmeer. During the summer, fun activities are also organised regularly for children and adults.
Strandbibliotheek Makkum is open daily this summer from 11 July to 23 August, from 11.00 to 17.00.
