On Saturday 4 July at 2.00 pm, join a guide from A Guide to Leeuwarden on a tour exploring the traces of Leeuwarden's slavery past. Where can this history still be seen today, for example in paintings or historic buildings? Our guides will share the stories behind the buildings where people who benefited from slavery once lived, and also show you the places where people protested against it.
Start: Our tours start at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof. Our guides are waiting at the entrance of Obe (the Visitor Center Leeuwarden is inside). This is opposite the Oldehove (the leaning Tower) and the regional products store Ut Streekie. The walk takes 1.5 hours.
Price: This is a 'Free Tour'. At the end of the tour you can decide for yourself what you think the tour is worth, through a voluntary contribution! Language: This city walk is in Dutch.
You can register on the A Guide to Leeuwarden website. These tours are also sometimes full, so we recommend that you sign up in advance to make sure you can walk along. This allows us to use an extra guide if necessary.
It is also possible to book this Tour exclusively for your own group. The walk is therefore also possible on other days.
