Creative Embassies has been organised in collaboration with Popfabryk. This take-over is brought to you in collaboration with Neushoorn and Friesland Pop.
What does it mean to truly feel at home as a maker? That question lies at the heart of Creative Embassies — a weekend in Bouwurk full of connection, creativity and collaboration. In the days leading up to 26 July, artists, musicians and organisers from Faro, Kaunas, Salford, Rijeka and Leeuwarden come together to build a temporary creative embassy. Not a symbolic artwork, but a real physical space — with walls, colours, food, sounds and shared rituals. Everything we need to feel at home with one another, we’ll shape together.
On Saturday, this world opens up to the public.
During this one-day festival, creative scenes blend and cross borders:

Live music from acts in Leeuwarden and the other cities fills the Whitebox

International DJs and local collectives spin in the Oasis

The Maakruimte hosts hands-on workshops, like graffiti and screen printing

An ongoing exhibition showcases the results of the shared creative process

In the Mienskip Room, we sit down for a communal dinner and the programme What’s on the Menu?
We close the day with a festive finale in the Oasis, featuring hip-hop performances. Louis Pedro gets the crowd jumping with energetic tracks full of rhythm and personality. Nelcon brings a genre-blending sound and a show with serious impact.
Creative Embassies connects underground creative scenes in smaller cities across Europe. In Bouwurk, we are building new alliances, new plans, and creating a space where we all feel at home.
This event takes place at Bouwurk at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden, Fryslân.
