In collaboration with Verhalenavond (Storytelling evening), from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, you'll hear and see some of the most remarkable stories from across Fryslân. Juicy anecdotes, wondrous miracles, hopeful adventures — anything can happen. In short rounds, you can drop in, take a seat, and be transported to another world.

Talk Show with Architect Lyongo Juliana

“How do you design places and spaces where everyone feels welcome?” With this question, architect Lyongo Juliana opens his talk Where Do I Belong? With his firm Lyongo Architecture, he works on striking, contemporary buildings in both the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean. For over 25 years, he has been active as an architect, focusing on how architecture and urban planning can contribute to a ‘sense of belonging’ — for all residents.

Lyongo studied architecture at Pennsylvania State University and Eindhoven University of Technology. In the Netherlands, he served as Architect in Residence at Arcam and as a fellow at Pakhuis de Zwijger (Designing Cities for All), where he advocated for a more diverse and inclusive design practice. Today, he shares his insights through lectures, workshops, and presentations for companies, schools, and governments. In his latest project — the documentary Kombiná — he collaborates with filmmaker Pim Gelevert and storyteller Emma Heinhuis to explore his 25-year journey toward a contemporary Caribbean architecture that reflects local culture.

Zinday Afternoon is the place to find new inspiration, human connection, and an easy-going afternoon where time simply slips away.

This event takes place in the Keuken at Bouwurk, at  Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden, Fryslân.
