The Ladybirds Trio brings atmospheric, melodic jazz to life with a sound all its own. The trio features Fokelien Looijenga (tenor saxophone), Maaike Boonstra (trumpet), and Arnout Baard (double bass). Together, they create an enchanting musical experience that is both intimate and captivating.
Their compositions are rooted in jazz, but also draw inspiration from classical music and Latin rhythms. Lyrical melodies, subtle harmonies, and improvisation run as a common thread through their work. The trio’s unique line-up — without a rhythm section — calls for a creative approach to collaboration, with interplay at the heart of their performance.
