Classical Sunday Afternoon Session
Leeuwarden
Featuring The Mozaïek Wind Quintet this week
Take a look
In collaboration with Schouwburg De Harmonie
Four Sunday afternoons in June and July bring something special to Oase. De Harmonie is presenting Young Talent from across the Netherlands: young musicians who play with passion and enchant their audience. Their performances are not only inspiring for you as a listener, but also a valuable opportunity for these emerging talents to gain essential stage experience. Come and enjoy classical and jazz music between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. Let yourself be surprised by the power and energy of the next generation of musicians.
The Mozaïek Wind Quintet is a young and passionate ensemble made up of five recently graduated musicians. Marieke Renkema (flute), Myrthe Egberink (oboe), Chris Nicolai (horn), Stephanie Tan (clarinet), and Sean Thompson (saxophone) met during their studies at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen and have been joyfully playing together for two years. In addition to their diverse countries of origin (Australia, Singapore, and the Netherlands), the combination of instruments makes the Mozaïek Wind Quintet unique: the bassoon, traditionally part of a wind quintet, is replaced by a saxophone.
The quintet presents a varied program featuring their own arrangements, impressionistic music by composers such as Maurice Ravel, and classical wind quintet works by Franz Danzi.
This event takes place in Oase at Bouwurk at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden, Fryslân.
