Young Talent fills Oase with music

Take a look

In collaboration with Schouwburg De Harmonie

For four Sunday afternoons in June and July, something special comes to the Oasis.
De Harmonie presents Young Talent from all over the Netherlands: young musicians who perform with passion and captivate their audience.

Their performances are not only inspiring for you as a listener — they’re also a valuable opportunity for these emerging talents to gain essential stage experience.
Come and enjoy classical and jazz music from 12:30 to 13:30 pm, and be surprised by the power and energy of the next generation of musicians.

This week’s performers:

Lucas Bakker (16)This young saxophonist from Ghent, with Flemish-Frisian roots, has been playing since 2017. In addition to performing, Lucas composes his own work. During the COVID lockdown, he wrote Polar, a musical reflection on the contradictory emotions he experienced during that time. With Polar, he won the prestigious composition competition of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemblein 2022. Accompanied by his younger brotherKobe Bakker (born 2011)on drums, he performed the piece three times at a sold-outConcertgebouw Amsterdam, including alive broadcast of the New Year’s concert on NPO2.

His talent has not gone unnoticed. In 2023, Lucas won the Prinses Christina Jazz Concours (ages 12–15) at the BIMHUIS Amsterdam with Freedom Jazz Dance and Toots Toast, an original tribute to Belgian jazz legend Toots Thielemans. In 2024, as bandleader of the Bakker Quartet, he won first prize at the Flemish Dragon JazzContest, and again as a soloist in 2025. Lucas has been featured in media across the Low Countries: Jazz&Mo’ (#28), HLN, Het Nieuwsblad, Jazz Bulletin, Leeuwarder Courant, and most recently by Co De Kloet on InJazz Radio #41 (2024) and #13 (2025). He has performed at major festivals and intimate jazz clubs, including Pop & Jazz Hilversum, Noordpool Troupe at CityProms (Leeuwarden), Festival Swinging (Groningen), Jazz te Gast (Zuidhorn), Arti et Amicitiae (Amsterdam), theGentse Feesten – Mardi Gras Festival (Ghent), Jazz Zolder (Mechelen), 27b Flat (Bruges), andMidsummer Jazzfestival (Ronse).
With his virtuoso improvisation and mature expression, Lucas Bakker never fails to leave a lasting impression — despite his young age.

Isha Kempeneers (18) A promising jazz guitarist, Isha is graduating from Kunsthumaniora Brussel and will continue his studies at the Conservatory of Basel, where he will study under Lionel Loueke. In summer 2024, he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Alternative Guitar Summit Camp in New York, where he was coached by top guitarists such as Gilad Hekselman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Stern, Wolfgang Muthspiel, andJohn Scofield. During this intensive week, he played alongside Hekselman, Muthspiel, Jerome Harris, and Harvey Sorgen — and even jammed at the legendary Smalls in NYC. Isha moves effortlessly between musical genres, bringing that versatility and depth into his expressive and multifaceted playing.
