Two-day Raku pottery workshop at Blokhuispoort. On day one, you’ll create your piece; on day two, you’ll glaze it and experience the spectacular Raku firing process in the courtyard.

Twice a year, in spring and autumn, we organise a Raku pottery workshop. Raku is a fast and spectacular Japanese firing technique that brings together the elements of water, fire, air and earth. The pieces are removed from the kiln while still red-hot. The sudden change in temperature creates a distinctive crackle effect, while the unglazed areas turn black when the pieces are placed in a container of sawdust.

This workshop takes place over two days: on the first day, you’ll create your pieces, and on the second day, they’ll be fired. The entire firing process takes place in the courtyard outside the studio.

Suitable for both beginners and experienced potters.
