A day full of atmosphere and surprises
The Dokkum annual fair is one of the oldest markets in the Netherlands, and you can really feel it in the atmosphere. The historic city center is closed to traffic and transforms into a large pedestrian promenade, filled with stalls, music, and a lively atmosphere.
In addition to the extensive market offerings, there’s plenty of opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the city center. The outdoor seating areas are open, and at 8:00 p.m., Progress provides a musical finale with summer evening music at Stadscafé Artisante.

From artisanal cheeses and fresh stroopwafels to spring rolls and ice cream: there’s something for every visitor at the annual fair. The downtown shops will also be open, making it the perfect combination for a day of shopping.
