De Feiers first came together during the 2022 Marsumer Muzykjûn, held in the atmospheric courtyard of Poptaslot in Marsum. What began as a one-off performance soon developed into a permanent band that now regularly performs at parties, celebrations and ceremonies. Their repertoire mainly features well-known classics from the 1960s and ’70s, including songs by The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Elvis, CCR, Little Feat and many others.
The name ‘De Feiers’ refers to the traditional nickname for people from Marsum: ‘strontbiezems’ (literally ‘shit brooms’). The band’s motto is therefore‘net kleie mar feie’ – ‘don’t complain, just sweep’.
The band consists of five musicians with a wealth of experience on the Frisian music scene:
Harry van Wieren – vocals, electric guitar, harmonica (The Jugulars, Thin Air, Van Wieren)
Daniël Span – bass guitar, vocals (F. U. C., The Leeches)
Gunar Boon – vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica (Gunar & Gerben)
Piter Wilkens – vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, mandolin (Okke Hel, Frisicana)
Leo Faber – drums, vocals (Second Life)
With this line-up, De Feiers bring not only musical quality to the stage, but also plenty of humour and great chemistry between the band members. They continue to evolve, steadily working on new performances and collaborations – and perhaps even some original material of their own.
Before the performance, you can enjoy lunch at Eetcafé Jonker Sikke, opposite the church. Lunch is served from 1:00pm.
