The Fries Scheepvaart Museum marks 175 years of the Royal Water Sports Association Sneek. In the museum and on Starteiland, you can discover images and stories from the history of the KWS, from historic sailing races to Starteiland as it used to be.

The Sneekermeer, Starteiland and Sneek have been the setting for water sports activities organised by the Royal Water Sports Association Sneek for 175 years. The Fries Scheepvaart Museum celebrates this anniversary with a presentation in the museum and on Starteiland.

In the pleasure boating gallery, the museum shows images from the joint collection. On Starteiland, along the route from the ferry to the starting tower, you will come across different moments from the history of the KWS. These include camping in the 1960s, nostalgic surfing competitions, Starteiland in earlier days and old posters.

The images can be seen in the museum throughout the summer holidays. On Starteiland, the presentation can be visited at least until the end of July.
