This event is part of 150 Years of Mata Hari. This anniversary year is celebrated in Leeuwarden with art, dance, theatre, parties, exhibitions, tours, and much more. The programme runs from May 23 to August 7 (Mata Hari’s birthday) and can be found here.
As soon as the first notes drift through the streets, the city centre of Leeuwarden transforms into a vibrant tribute to the musical heyday of the early twentieth century. The Zelle Sessions bring the authentic sounds of the past into the present, spreading the timeless atmosphere of nostalgic jazz throughout the city centre. Visitors can fully immerse themselves in these classic sounds, where rhythms of the past blend seamlessly with the contemporary energy of the Frisian capital.
This special event unfolds across six different terraces, creating a musical route that wraps the city in a warm flow of improvisation. As the event is free for everyone, it invites you to simply take a seat, relax, and enjoy the musicians’ craftsmanship.
While the exact locations will remain a surprise for now, one thing is certain: the jazz will be everywhere. Keep an eye on this page for the full programme.
