Nijkleasterkuier

At Nijkleaster, it is customary to walk as pilgrims following a threefold rhythm: silence – reflection – connection. The walk begins in silence, followed by conversation, with readings and songs along the way. We conclude by sharing a lunch that participants bring themselves. Visitors are warmly welcome, even if you wish to attend only the service or prefer to walk a shorter route.

The length of the Nijkleasterkuier depends on the weather and the group. The walk itself lasts approximately 60 minutes.

Programme for the Nijkleasterkuier:

9:30 am Morning prayer (a simple service with readings, prayer, silence and a few songs)
10:00 am Coffee and tea
10:30 am Start of the Nijkleasterkuier
12:00 pm Lunch (bring your own)

Practical notes:

• Gathering takes place at the church in Jorwert (Sluytermanwei 4, Jorwert). Parking is available at the edge of the village or in the designated spaces directly opposite the café next to the farm.

• The morning service begins at 9:30 am. Even if you arrive late, feel free to come in.

• In winter, the church is unheated, so please dress warmly.

• Sturdy walking shoes or boots are essential.
