After a major renovation, het Fries Landbouwmuseum (the Frisian Agricultural Museum) is proudly reopening its doors. The official opening for invited guests took place on Friday 16 May. Starting Saturday 17 May, the museum opened to the public again.
New Building
Thanks to a generous legacy the museum received in 2019, extensive renovation work has taken place over the past period. A brand-new exhibition space has been added, giving the museum ample room to host temporary exhibitions, educational programmes, and lectures on a wide range of agricultural topics. Visitors of all ages can explore where our food comes from and gain insight into current developments in the agricultural sector.
Permanent Exhibition of the Frisian Horse
One of the highlights of the reopening is the brand-new exhibition “The World of the Frisian Horse.” This special display showcases the rich history and significance of the Frisian horse. The exhibition uses the latest technologies and is expected to be fully operational by mid-June.
Preview from 1 May
From 1 May, visitors were warmly invited to take a sneak peek at the beautifully renewed museum. As a few finishing touches were still being completed, visitors received a free return ticket, allowing them to experience the museum in its full glory later this year.
