Have you ever wondered how some everyday products are actually made? They often seem to simply be there. From tableware to sunglasses, we rarely stop to think about the craftsmanship and techniques behind these objects. The exhibition 'Ben je Mal' (Dutch for: Are you crazy) changes that.

Take a look

Local objects
The exhibition mainly features locally made objects, either produced as one offs or on a larger scale. From ice creams from Sint Nicolaasga to sunglasses made from washed up plastic on Vlieland. And from pottery from Workum to dental prostheses from Joure. These are just a few examples from the selection of more than 25 products on display.

Even the pallets on which the products are displayed are made using a mould. They are produced by AVK Plastics, an injection moulding company from Balk.

Three elements
For each product, three elements are shown: the raw material, the mould and the final product. The objects are also accompanied by an informative legend that explains, among other things, the production process and the lifespan of the mould.

What often remains hidden takes centre stage in 'Ben je Mal'. The exhibition can be visited until the end of 2026.
