?De Bird?, founded in 1965 as a sailing school, is considered top of the bill when it comes to sailing courses. Its pinnacle position is based upon the beautiful location and surroundings of its unique accommodation, the professional staff and the diversity of the available equipment. Therefor we can safely call it: Exclusive Sailing Institute ?De Bird?. Its exclusivity derives greatly from its perfect location, situated at the Idzegaasterpoel: a little lake in the heart of the Dutch province of Friesland, bustling almost all year round with all sorts of boating activities. The Idzegaasterpoel is highly suitable for undertaking all sorts of boating activities for both beginners and groups with little or no sailing experience, and more experienced sailors, because of its sheltered location, its wide open spaces and absence of other ships. Accommodation is housed in an entirely renovated and redecorated monumental Frisian farmhouse. Our rooms are suitable for 2 to 8 persons and are equipped with central heating. Showers can be found either in or in close vicinity of the room. The farmhouse has several meeting-, relaxation- and training-rooms, a cosy bar and a disco-part.
