Waskemeer Roaming Route

(11.0 km)

This route leads you through meadows, the Duurswouderheide nature reserve and the village of Waskemeer. The Duurswouderheide nature reserve is the largest stretch of heathland in Friesland. It covers an area of 150 hectares and is large enough to be a wonderful place to wander around in. As you are about to leave the heath, you pass Waskemar pond. The village of Waskemeer is named after this small pool. Up until 1954, the village was known as Haulerwijk-Beneden.
