As the principal village in the former municipality of Rauwerderhem, Raerd was a prosperous and alluring place. You can still see evidence of this today. The impressive properties here were built by retired farmers. The Reformed Church will probably be one of the first things that catches your eye. The church stands on a raised churchyard. The interior dates back to the 18th-century with funerary hatchments of wealthy families that lived in Raerd. Unfortunately, nothing remains of the country house that once stood near the village but Jongemastate Park, which surrounded the estate, is still a lovely place to walk. You will see the old outline of the building and occasionally come across remnants of the country house.

This route leads you past the villages of Poppenwier and Easterwierum. At Junction 13, continue straight on along Froonackerdyk. Before you get to the level crossing, turn right towards the hamlet of Klaeiterp to continue along the route to Junction 66.

Pluktuin Easterwierrum

Pluktuin Easterwierrum is located at De Dille by the picnic bench, next to the bike path. It is a flower-picking garden. On May 2nd, the first flowers, bulbs, and seeds will be planted. For a fee, anyone can pick a bouquet of flowers.
